Sixty-four towns and villages in four Ukrainian provinces remained without electricity as of 7 a.m. on Jan. 1, Emergencies Ministry spokesman Ihor Kril has said.

He said that electricity cuts had been reported in 55 towns and villages in Kyiv province, four each in Luhansk and Cherkasy provinces, and one in Chernihiv province.

Emergency units at local power distribution companies are working to restore the power supply.
