The morning of January 2 in Zaporizhia was marked by a downpour of rain with thunder and lightning, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has said.

Zaporizhia Airport told Interfax-Ukraine that severe weather conditions had not influenced the schedule of flights.

According to the Zaporizhia branch of the Ukrainian Weather Center, a cold snap is expected to hit the city, as well as most areas of central and eastern Ukraine, in the next 24 hours. Temperatures as high as +6-7øC were recorded in Zaporizhia on Saturday, but in the early hours of Sunday, temperatures will drop well below freezing. Cold temperatures and snow are expected in the next few days.

Daytime temperatures in Kyiv on Sunday and Monday are expected to be around minus 15 C.
