Fifty trains delayed by weather

Fifty trains arrived late from 6 a.m. on Jan. 2 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 3 because of bad weather, reads a report made by the press service of the ministry of transport and communications.

Current data, 50 trains were delayed for adverse weather conditions.

In particular 14 passenger trains and 36 freight trains arrived to their destinations with delays.

To ensure uninterruptible work of the railway infrastructure they engaged more than 3,300 railwaymen, 32

snow-removing machines and seven diesel trains with vibration pantographs.

The transport ministry says that most motor roads in most of Ukrainian provinces were remaining wet as of 8am of January 3, in some areas covered with snow.

Stray flurry in western, eastern provinces in, Zaporizhia region and in Crimea, no precipitations of the rest of the country's territory.

Flurries on mountain-pass road sections in the Carpathians, no precipitations on mountains passes in Crimea, the way is clear.

No precipitations on the M-05 highway Kyiv - Odesa, roads in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions are covered with snow in places, the way is clear.

Principal roads in Chernihiv region covered with snow, in the regions of Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyi covered with snow in some areas, in Kherson region odd ice slicks.

Local motorways in Zaporizhia region, western, northern and central provinces are snowbound, in Luhansk and Kehrson regions isolated glaze ice, the way is clear.

1,898 workers and 1,183 machines are clearing motor roads.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, 25 settlements in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions remain without power because of bad weather.

On December 29, 1,077 populated areas in 14 regions remained without power because of worsening of weather conditions.
