Lviv region, January 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko has said that Russia will continue to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine until the gas transportation system is transferred to another owner.

Yushchenko said this at a meeting with the residents of Sambir, Lviv region, on Jan. 4.

"We will not be left in peace until the gas transportation system of Ukraine is transferred to other hands," the president said.

Yushchenko noted again that the gas agreements signed between Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom in 2009 might lead to Ukraine losing control of its own gas transportation system.

Yushchenko said that "this independence [of the gas transportation system] is already 70% gone," a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine reported.

At the same time, Yushchenko didn't elaborate on his statement.

The president also said that the policies of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the gas sphere had lead only to the loss of Ukraine's gas independence.
