You're reading: Health Ministry confirms 827 flu deaths

The Health Ministry of Ukraine has confirmed 827 fatal cases caused by flu and acute respiratory virus infections in all the 24 regions of Ukraine, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea over the October 29, 2009 - January 5, 2010 period. Starting on October 29, 2009, a total of 113 deaths were reported from Donetsk region, 102 from Lviv region, 45 from Ivano-Frankivsk region, 43 from Kharkiv region, 41 from Dnipropetrovsk region, 40 from the city of Kyiv, 36 from Kyiv region, 32 from Cherkasy region, 31 from Chernihiv region, 29 from Volyn region, 28 from Khmelnytsk region, 31 from Zaporizhia region, 28 from Kirovohrad region, 25 from Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions.

25 people have died in Crimea, 20 in Rivne region, 19 in Vinnytsia region, 17 in Sumy region, 15 in Poltava region, 13 in Mykolaiv region, 12 in Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, and Kherson regions and in the city of Sevastopol each, 14 in Odesa region and 7 in Luhansk region.

Over the past 24 hours, 19 patients have died.

On the whole, starting on October 29, 2009, a total of 3,905,542 flu and acute respiratory virus infection cases have been registered, including 61,601 over the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the epidemic 225,925 patients have been rushed to hospital, and 189,019 released.

As Ukrainian News reported, over the October 29, 2009 – January 4, 2010 period, the health ministry confirmed 805 deaths of flu and ARVIs in all the 24 regions, Kyiv, Sevastopol and Crimea.
