Kyiv Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case against the illegal seizure of the Ukraina printing and publishing company, the press service of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported on Monday.

The case was opened under Article 341 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (seizure of administrative buildings) and Article 365 (exceeding authorities).

Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko said at a press conference that the Kyiv Prosecutor General’s Office opened two criminal cases against police officers regarding the situation at the company.

"Two criminal cases were opened against police officers," the minister said, expressing bewilderment with the actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office, as the case was opened due to the fact that a bus with Berkut officers was near the company’s building.

Lutsenko said that there was no evidence on video recordings confirming that police officers beat lawmakers.

"The Prosecutor General’s Office continues a bluffing policy regarding the police. It’s obvious that there are political motives behind the matter," he said.

In turn, Kyiv Prosecutor General Yevhen Blazhyvsky confirmed to Interfax-Ukraine that two criminal cases had been opened.
