You're reading: Cold kills over 300 people in Ukraine

The number of those killed by cold weather in Ukraine since Dec. 18, 2009 has increased to 302 people, including 64 people who froze to death at home, the Ukrainian Health Ministry's press service has reported.

This was according to data as of noon on Thursday, January 28, the press service said.

The largest number of people (114) died in Donetsk region. There were 38 deaths in Zaporizhia region, 22 in Volyn region, 17 in Kyiv region, 14 in Sumy region, 13 in Khmelnytsky region, 12 Chernivtsi region, and 11 in Rivne region.

A total of 4,526 people with frostbite have asked for medical assistance, and 3,031 were hospitalized.
