Official source: President Victor Yushchenko signs new election law

Feb 4, 2010 at 14:58 | Staff reports
President Victor Yushchenko on Feb. 4 at around 14:00 signed into law last-minute changes to a controversial election law passed in parliament on Feb. 3.

The changes "make the election false, dishonest and uncontrollable," according to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who has accused her rival Victor Yanukovych of turning the poll into a sham.

Tymoshenko said on Feb. 4 she would call people out onto the streets if she considered procedures and vote-counting were rigged in next Sunday's election for president.
