Fourteen people rescued in household gas explosion in Ordzhonikidze

Dnipropetrovsk, February 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) - An explosion of household gas rocked through a two-story apartment building in Ordzhonikidze, Dnipropetrovsk region, on Monday, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry's branch in Dnipropetrovsk region told Interfax-Ukraine. An explosion occurred at 0525 on the second floor of a two-story apartment building housing 18 apartments and situated at 13 Pushkin Street.

As of 0800 the Emergencies Ministry's rescuers have saved 14 people. Six of them were retrieved from under the rubble, eight rescued from the shattered second floor. Six people were hospitalized. One woman is in grave condition with 60% of the body burned.

Around a hundred rescuers are operating at the scene. They have eighteen units of equipment at their disposal. A special commission has been set up to establish the cause of the blast. The local authorities are considering the resettlement of the blast victims.
