Kyiv, February 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A relatively favorable epidemic situation is now being observed in all regions of Ukraine, apart from Volyn region, where the sickness rate from flu and acute respiratory diseases was approaching the epidemic threshold as of February 15, the Ukrainian Health Ministry's press service has reported. A total of 17 persons have died of flu and flu-like illnesses during the week from February 8-15. The largest number of deaths was recorded in Donetsk region (seven persons, including three women who were in labor).

Since the outbreak of the epidemic (October 29, 2009), over 1,093 people have died from flu and respiratory infections.

The ministry publishes no separate statistics on cases of A/H1N1 influenza or swine flu.
