The European Parliament is planning to call on the EU Council to mandate the European Commission to work on a roadmap towards visa-free travel for Ukraine.

This is stipulated in a draft resolution that was made available to Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday. The resolution will be put to the vote at a plenary meeting of the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday.

"[The European Parliament] underlines the fact that, although progress has been made, the existing visa facilitation agreement should be re-examined with long-term objectives in mind and calls on the Council to mandate the Commission to revise this agreement with the Ukrainian authorities in order to work on a roadmap towards visa-free travel for Ukraine," reads the document.
