The 200th anniversary of the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko's birthday will be marked at a state level. Kaniv, March 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The 200th anniversary of the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko's birthday will be marked at a state level, Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych has said.

"We'll study all of the events to mark this memorable day along with the Ukrainian community, and, of course, with the national committee for Shevchenko prizes. I'll sign a decree after we study all this," he said at the Shevchenko prize award ceremony in Kaniv on Tuesday.

Yanukovych said that events on the celebration of Shevchenko's 200th birthday would be conducted along with Russia. He said that a respective proposal would be made during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Kyiv in the first half of this year.

He said that all of the work on the reconstruction of the Kaniv nature reserve would be completed by the end of 2010.

Shevchenko was born on March 9, 1814. The 200th birthday of the "Great Kobzar" will be marked in 2014.
