Azovobschemash to supply equipment for Cyclone 4 missile launcher in Brazil

OJSC Azovobschemash, part of Azovmash (Mariupol, Donetsk region), a leader in heavy engineering in Ukraine, has signed a contract to supply equipment for the Cyclone 4 missile launcher being created at the Alcantara launch center in Brazil with Alcantara Cyclone Space bi-national company.

The press service of Azovmash reported on Tuesday that the equipment is to be supplied in 14-18 months from the moment of receiving payments as a part of the contract, the value of which is not disclosed.

The press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the first payments have been received.

Azovmash have drawn up technical documents. Almost all production facilities would be involved in the work. The equipment will be shipped by sea.

"After the implementation of the contract conditions, the customer plans to continue business relations with Azovmash when starting the second stage of the launcher development. The second stage includes the designing and production of car industry products," the press service said.

As reported, in 2003 Ukraine and Brazil signed an agreement on long-term cooperation on the creation of the Cyclone 4 missile launcher to launch spacecraft at the Alcantara launch center.

The first launch is scheduled for 2011.
