The Lviv branch of the For Ukraine! Party has started to collect signatures in support of the dismissal of Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk, the regional organization's press service has reported.

"Tabachnyk's appointment as education and science minister is destroying reforms in the education sector launched by [former Minister] Ivan Vakarchuk, and, first and foremost, the external independent assessment [of knowledge]. He will also try to review the assessment of history in textbooks. I think that the Ukrainian language will also be ousted from the sphere of education," branch leader Yaroslav Pitko said.

"He [the new minister] will harm our children through [his] absolutely different interpretation of historical events, and, consequently, their value. So we're demanding Tabachnyk's dismissal right now," he said.

The party's branch in Lviv called on Lviv city and regional councils to hold extraordinary sessions on this issue.
