Kyiv, March 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Oleksandr Cherevko as head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration.

The head of state signed a decree to that effect on Friday, March 12, Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Hanna Herman told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The president's decision has been dictated by an extremely poor state of affairs in Cherkasy region and, in particular, in Shevchenko National Nature Reserve in Kaniv. The Ukrainian president was shocked by negligence, irresponsibility and indifferent attitude to such a national sacred site as Kobzar Memorial," she said.

As reported, the president visited Shevchenko National Nature Reserve in Kaniv, Cherkasy region, on March 9, the birthday of the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.

On March 12, Culture and Tourism Minister Mykhailo Kulyniak dismissed Director General of Shevchenko National Nature Reserve Maryan Piniak.
