Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will come on a two-day visit to Ukraine on May 17, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported.

This date was agreed on Wednesday during a telephone conversation between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart.

Medvedev will be staying in Ukraine on May 17-18, the press service said.

During the conversation, the presidents agreed to synchronize the Victory Day military parades. During his official visit to Moscow Yanukovych proposed holding military parades on May 9, the press service said.

They decided that on May 8 the presidents will meet the train of Victory, which will bring the veterans of the Great Patriotic War to the parade, the press service said.

The presidents of Ukraine and Russia also discussed the issues related to broadcasting Ukrainian national TV channel UT-1 in Russia.

At the same time the Russian president's press service said in a statement on Wednesday that the two presidents discussed the initial stage of the implementation of "important agreements that were reached during the recent Russian-Ukrainian top-level meeting in Moscow and determined goals for further work in this direction."

Yanukovych and Medvedev "emphasized the significance of active work of the ministries and other agencies, with the active involvement of expanding the interaction of business circles, to efficiently prepare for the Russian president's visit to Kyiv to take part in a session of a bilateral intergovernmental commission planned for May," it said.
