About 5,000 people are holding a rally in front of the Lviv regional council building demanding the dismissal of Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk.

The participants of the rally are holding flags of Ukraine, flags of parties entering the Our Ukraine People’s Self-Defense Bloc, and also posters reading: "Down With Tabachnyk!" "Tabachnyk is harmful for Education Ministry," etc.

Earlier, the participants of the rally marched along Lviv streets screaming "Down With Tabachnyk!"

Deputies of the Lviv city council are taking floor before the protestors and say that Tabachnyk is the pro-Russian politician and has Ukrainofobia.

They said that Tabachnyk is urged to marginalize the Ukrainian education and science, to humiliate the status of the Ukrainian language, as well as to stop reforms in education.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Tabachnyk was appointed as the education and science minister on March 11.

On March 12, Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Our Ukraine People’s Self-Defense Bloc faction Viacheslav Kyrylenko MP registered with the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution to dismiss Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk.
