The Ukrainian government is planning to step up privatization in 2010 and increase revenues from it to the state budget to at least Hr 10 billion, Vice Premier Sergiy Tigipko said at an investment conference organized by the Dragon Capital investment company in Kyiv on March 18.

"We’re planning to bring in at least Hr 10 billion [for the state budget] from privatization, compared to Hr 900 million in 2009," he said.

Tigipko said that companies in the sphere of electricity generation and distribution, as well as in engineering (Luhanskteplovoz in particular) were to be put up for sale this year.

He said that Ukrtelecom also needed an investor.

"But we need time to prepare these big facilities for privatization," Tigipko said.
