President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine stands against the politicization of the work of trade unions.

Yanukovych have his stance on the matter during a meeting with representatives of trade unions of Ukraine.

"Too much politics has emerged in the work of trade unions... I would not like to divide trade unions on political colors," he said.

President Viktor Yanukovych demands that trade unions protect the interests of workers, rather than interests of political forces. Thus, any politicization of the work of trade unions is inadmissible.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Federation of Trade Unions in October 2009 said it intended to organize the national strike if the government refused to implement demands of trade unions concerning the social and economic policies.
