Ivano-Frankivsk, March 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The city council of Nadvirna in Ivano-Frankivsk region has awarded honorary citizen titles to Stepan Bandera and Stepan Lenkavsky, the leaders of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), and Roman Shukhevych, the commander of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

Interfax-Ukraine learned this at the city council, referring to a relevant decision taken on Thursday.

All 29 deputies who attended the session voted for the decision.

The council also supported Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council’s request to dismiss Dmytro Tabachnyk as Ukraine’s education and science minister.

Nadvirna City Council includes 38 deputies who represent the factions of Our Ukraine Party, the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, the Ukrainian People’s Party, and the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists.

Over 22,000 people live in Nadvirna.
