You're reading: Average wage in Ukraine 13.5% up over February

The average wage in Ukraine rose by 13.5% in February 2010 year-over-year, and by 2% compared to January this year, to Hr 1,955, the State Statistics Committee reported on Monday.

According to the committee, real wages went up by 5.1% in January through February 2010, year-over-year, and in February they rose by 0.1% against January this year.

It was also reported that last month the average salary increased by 29.2% in the forestry sector, 20.1% in the public health sector and 16.2% in the industrial sectors. The average salary at trade and auto service enterprises went up by 16.1%, in the agriculture sector it rose by 13.5%, while the hotel and restaurant industry and the housing and utilities sphere saw the average salary increase by 13.2%. It also went up by 12.3% at transport and communications enterprises, by 10.9% in the finance sector and by 8.6% in the construction sphere, year-over-year.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the highest levels of income in February 2010 were seen in Kyiv, where the average wage is Hr 3,022, in Donetsk region (Hr 2,224), Dnipropetrovsk region (Hr 2,033) and Kyiv region (Hr 2,006), and the lowest level of income was recorded in Ternopil region (Hr 1,432), Volyn region (Hr 1,441), Chernihiv region (Hr 1,453) and Kherson region (Hr 1,498).
