You're reading: Foreign Ministry advises Ukrainians against traveling to Kyrgyzstan

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recommends that Ukrainians refrain from trips to Kyrgyzstan, according to a statement posted on the official Web site of the ministry on Wednesday.

"Due to the aggravation of the situation in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan because of the widespread unrest, mass clashes in the capital, which have led to casualties among the demonstrators, and the introduction of the state of emergency, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recommends citizens of Ukraine temporarily refrain from traveling to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan until the final normalization of the situation in this country," reads the statement.
There have been clashes between the opposition and police in Bishkek and several other places in neighboring Kyrgyzstan on April 7. According to local mass media, around 47 were killed when the rally in Bishkek was being broken up.
