Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has declared Monday, April 12, a day of national mourning for the victims of the air crash near Smolensk, which killed Poland's President Lech Kaczynski and the entire official delegation.

Yanukovych announced his decision on Sunday during his visit to the Polish Embassy in Kyiv.

The president paid tribute to the air crash victims. He brought flowers to the embassy and made an entry in the book of condolences.

The Tupolev Tu-154 plane with 96 people on board, including the official Polish delegation led by President Lech Kaczynski, crashed while attempting to land in heavy fog in the Smolensk region at 10:50 a.m. Moscow time on April 10. There were no survivors.
