Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev have signed an agreement to build a bridge from Kerch to Kuban, Chairman of the Crimean Council of Ministers Vasyl Dzharty has said, according to the E-Crimea news agency.

Dzharty said that he had managed to persuade the two presidents that there was a need to build a bridge across the Kerch Strait.

"Medvedev said that the bridge should be built by 2014. It will be a huge breakthrough for us, the residents of Crimea, mainly an economic and social one. This will be a development of infrastructure, communications, and recreation," he said.
