Police clashed with protesters in front of the Ukrainian parliament building on Tuesday after police tried to detain an opposition activist.
The police officers tried to detain one of the protesters for violating public order, an Interfax correspondent has reported. The attempt was followed by a clash with some twenty opposition activists. The law enforcement officials did not use force and were not able to take the detainee to their vehicle.
Opposition activists are currently trying to get into the parliament building from the Cabinet side. Police are keeping them from doing so and are preventing people from accessing the building.
According to earlier reports, some 10,000 protesters are taking part in the protest being held in front of the Ukrainian parliament. The opposition representatives are protesting the ratification of the "Kharkiv agreements." There are some 5,000 Party of Regions supporters near the parliament, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry has reported.
