The Russian Black Sea Fleet and the Ukrainian Navy are ready to fight terrorism and piracy outside the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Vysotsky told reporters commenting on the ratification, in Moscow and Kyiv, of the agreement on the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.

"We believe fighting elements of terrorism, which could be present in this region, is a very important task. Resolving issues, including the fight against piracy outside the Back Sea and the Mediterranean Sea involving Ukrainian representatives, is very important," Vysotsky said.

Vysotsky said the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the Ukrainian Navy will resume search and rescue activities that were previously conducted as training maneuvers, called Farvater Mira (Fairway of Peace).
