Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov has said he hopes that the Ukrainian and Russian presidents will soon sign an agreement on the prospects for the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait and set a date for the start of its construction.

He said this at a meeting with Crimean Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Kostiantynov in Simferopol on Wednesday.

Zurabov noted that the construction of a bridge connecting Russia’s Taman region and Crimea would be an impetus to the economic development of the peninsula, and added that in view of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, it would be possible to talk about the possibility of creating a single resort complex that will unite the Ukrainian and Russian resort structures on the Black Sea coast.
