Ukrainian political parties and non-governmental organizations have created a People's Committee to Protect Ukraine. Nine political parties and several non-governmental organizations signed a document on the creation of the committee on Monday, a correspondent from Interfax-Ukraine reported.

In particular, the document was signed by some of the political parties represented in the Verkhovna Rada: the Ukrainian Social-Democratic Party, the European Party of Ukraine, the Batkivschyna Party, the People’s Movement (Rukh) of Ukraine, the Party of Motherland Defenders, the Reforms and Order Party, and the People’s Self-Defence Party.

The document was also signed by the Svoboda all-Ukrainian Union and the Ukrainian Party.

Founders of the People’s Committee to Protect Ukraine signed also a declaration that sets out the main tasks of the committees. These tasks include the protection of the territorial integrity of the state, the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, the cessation of "anti-Ukrainian humanitarian policies," the rejection of any attempts to establish foreign monitoring over strategic enterprises and sectors of Ukrainian industry, the preservation of the Euro-Atlantic choice of Ukraine and movement towards civilized European values.
