You're reading: Four beaches in Crimea receive international certificates of cleanliness

Simferopol, May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Two beaches in Yalta and two beaches in Yevpatoria for the first time on the CIS territory have received the Blue Flag international certificates for the cleanliness of beaches and marinas.

According to the official Web site of Yalta, a representative of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) international organization, Viktor Marchenko, presented flags and certificates, the symbols of ecological cleanness, awarded by the international jury of the Blue Flag Programme, to the beach of Massandra and the beach of Yalta Intourist Hotel.

According to the press service of the executive committee of Yevpatoria, the international jury awarded Blue Flags to the beach of the international center of labor, medical, social and professional rehabilitation of disabled persons and the beach of Pivnichny (the Northern) health centre located in Zaozerne village.

The Blue Flag International Programme for beach quality was established in France in 1985.

The Blue Flag Programme is owned and run by the Foundation for Environmental Education, an independent non-profit organization. Currently over 25 countries in Europe take part in this programme.
