The Russian Black Sea Fleet will help the Ukrainian Navy put into service Ukraine's only submarine, the Zaporizhia, a source at the Black Sea Fleet staff told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"Despite financial problems, the Black Sea Fleet ship-repairing plant continues to repair the submarine. The Zaporizhia’s mechanisms and auxiliary units are almost ready at last. Our rescuers will ensure successful tests of the submarine," he said.

Once the sea trials are over, the Zaporizhia may drop anchor next to the Russian Black Sea Fleet submarines in the South Bay of Sevastopol, he said.
