You're reading: Yanukovych calling for cooperation with Ukrainian non-governmental organizations abroad

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych believes there is a need to cooperate with Ukrainian non-governmental organizations abroad, he said at a meeting with the leaders of the Ukrainian World Congress.

"I think that now it is necessary to organize cooperation [with the Ukrainian World Congress and other Ukrainian non-governmental organizations] in such a way as to improve Ukraine’s image in the world," he said at a meeting with president of the Ukrainian World Congress Eugene Czolij, and the secretary general of the organization, Stefan Romaniw.

The Ukrainian president briefed the leaders of the Ukrainian World Congress about the authorities’ plans.

Yanukovych said that he as president has acted and will act in the interests of Ukrainian society.

The president said that the Ukrainian World Congress is a leading association of public organizations of the Ukrainian Diaspora, and thanked its leaders for proposing this meeting.
