Simferopol, June 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Supreme Council of Crimea has called on residents and guests of the autonomy to help in the protection of exotic animals from cruelty.

A total of 65 out of 95 deputies participating in the voting supported the proposal for on animal protection at a plenary meeting on June 16.

The deputies asked residents and guests of Crimea to call the police if they see anyone exploiting exotic animals for commercial purposes on beaches and in recreation areas.

"This business is characterized by the cruel treatment of animals, which are injected with dangerous medicines, and their teeth extracted. They are given no rest, they are held under the scorching heat of the sun, and as a result, most of these animals die by the end of the season. And remember that you could be infected by a dangerous disease when being photographed with exotic animals," reads a report.

The Crimean deputies also called on the leadership of Crimean directorate of railway transportation of the state-run enterprise Prydniprovska Railway, the automobile Krymavtotrans Company, the Krymtroleybus Company, as well as the international Simferopol airport to ensure the placement of this information in transport, at stations and transport stops, as well as on the territory of the airport.

In addition, the Supreme Council of Crimea proposed that the Council of Ministers of Crimea draws up a procedure for transferring confiscated exotic animals to specialized enterprises.
