The Ukrainian government is in talks on the acquisition of techniques for shale gas extraction, First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Kliuyev has reported.

"We are in talks on the acquisition of techniques for shale gas extraction," he said at a meeting in Kyiv on Tuesday with representatives of the regional mass media on the results of the first 100 days of the government’s work.

In addition, according to Kliuyev, the government assigned the task of increasing natural gas extraction on existing fields by 1.5-2 times, to 30-32 billion cubic meters a year.

He also noted that the government is considering the alternative of collecting methane released when extracting coal.
