Travel agencies belonging to the Association of Leaders of the Tourist Business of Ukraine (ALTU) that cover about 70% of the Ukrainian foreign tourism market have said that the number of Ukrainian tourists holidaying in Turkey has not declined and that there are no grounds for tourists to give up plans to visit this country.

"Tour operators belonging to the Association of Leaders of Tourist Business of Ukraine have seen no reduction in tourist flows from Ukraine to Turkey, and say there are no grounds for tourists to refrain from traveling to this country," the association’s spokeswoman, Yulia Oliynyk, told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

She also noted that ALTU’s tour operators guaranteed the meeting of their commitments to their clients.

The media earlier reported, quoting State Tourism and Resorts Service spokesman Leonid Mediany, that the service had called on Ukrainians to refrain from spending holidays in Turkey in the near future.

"I would advise people not to go on holiday in Turkey in the near future," he said.

Mediany said that holidays in Turkey could be disrupted due to the bankruptcy of local companies and private entrepreneurs who are partners of Ukrainian tour operators.

The Association of Leaders of Tourist Business of Ukraine was founded in 2007 by leading tour operators in Ukraine that cover about 70% of the Ukrainian foreign tourism market, and over 30% of the domestic tourism market. The association’s members are Pan Ukraine, Widerstrahl, Express-Voyage, Kandagar Tour, SAM, Tez Tour, TUI Ukraine, Proland, Turtess Travel, Tourist Club, and Tass Travel.
