A rocket fuel component known as melange, stored near the town of Radekhiv in Ukraine's Lviv region, will be removed from the Western Operational Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ground Troops on July 19-24, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Department of Press and Information said.

The event is due to be attended by representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the Western Operational Command and government agencies. During the event liquid fuel components will be loaded into tankers for further shipment to Russia.

Under the memorandum of understanding between the Ukrainian government and the OSCE ratified in 2009, regarding liquid rocket fuel disposal, the OSCE has assumed an obligation to provide financial aid to Ukraine in addressing this problem.

Under the project, 2,740 tonnes of melange have already been removed from storage facilities in the Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions and moved to Russia.
