Soaring temperatures across most of Ukraine in recent days have slowed down traffic and kept people indoors during the daylight hours.
Weather bureaus on July 19 say they expect the heatwave to continue into this week.
Sunday, July 18, saw temperatures in Kyiv reaching 36 Celsius (97Fahrenheit), breaking the 34 Celsius record set in 2007. The lowest recorded temperature for July 18 is 9 Celsius, recorded in 1911.
Mykoa Kulbyda, head of Ukraine’s weather bureau, said during a press conference on July 18 that Kyivans should not expect cooler weather for at least two more weeks.
