You're reading: Defense Ministry elaborates plan to stabilize situation in Ukraine’s army

Ukraine's Defense Ministry has worked out a plan to stabilize of the situation in the country's armed forces.

Chief of the Ukrainian Army’s General Staff Hryhoriy Pedchenko made this announcement in Vinnytsia.

"The key task for 2010 is to stop the destruction, which started in the army as a result of insufficient funding caused by the financial crisis," Pedchenko said.

He added that they had assessed the army conditions and developed a plan to stabilize the situation in the Armed Forces, which will soon be put into effect with a presidential decree.

He also added that the work on the draft concept of reforming the army is coming to an end. The concept will be based on the proclaimed non-aligned status of Ukraine and projected costs for defense needs till 2023.
