You're reading: Yanukovych gives medal to Ukraine’s top cop

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has decorated Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleksandr Medvedko with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the fifth degree.

He signed a corresponding order on July 25, the press service of the president reported.

Medvedko was awarded "for his contribution into building a lawful state, strengthening law and order, and lengthy, conscientious work," reads the order.

Medvedko, born in Zaporizhia region in 1955, celebrated his birthday on July 25. The 55-year old prosecutor’s term in office ends on Nov. 4, 2010.
