National population census in Ukraine postponed until 2012

According to the latest population census, some 48,457,100 people lived in Ukraine as of December 5, 2001.
According to resolution No 1565-r, the national population census, which was previously scheduled for 2011, was postponed until for 2012. Meanwhile, a pilot population census, which was supposed to be held last year, was rescheduled for December of 2010.
Resolution No 1566- r about the organization of the pilot population census rules that the pilot census will be held in December 2010 in Derhachi district, Kharkiv region. A total of Hr 5.020 million will be assigned to the State Statistics Committee for this purpose.
The nationwide population census was proposed by the State Statistics Committee, the resolution reads.
