You're reading: Ukrainian aircraft, fire engines helping extinguish Russian forest fires

Voronezh, August 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A total of 30 Ukrainian rescuers, two fire trucks, two tanker cars and two box vans from Luhansk will arrive in Russia's Voronezh region on Wednesday, according to the press service of the main department of the Emergencies Ministry branch in Voronezh region.

Two An-32P aircraft of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry, designed to extinguish forest and peat fires, made five flights on Wednesday and poured 40 tonnes of water in the area of the village of Volya, Novaya Usman district, Voronezh region.

A total of 2,298 people, 162 fire engines and six aircraft are involved in fire fighting on a total area of 2,377 hectares.

No casualties were reported over the past day.
