As of Thursday morning at least 625 hectares of forest had been burnt by wildfires that broke out in Ukraine on Wednesday, Press Secretary of the Ukrainian State Forestry Committee Andriy Solimov has said.

He said twenty-six wildfires broke out in forests supervised by the committee, which is 67% of all the forests in Ukraine. All of them were put out by Thursday morning. Forests on an area of 7.2 hectares were damaged.

According to information available, 14 wildfires broke out in the forests supervised by other agencies (the Defense Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry) and in municipally owned forests. Thirteen of them were extinguished by Thursday morning. Forests on an area of about 118 hectares were damaged.

Solimov also said there had been a wildfire in Novhorod-Siversky regional forestry in Chernihiv region, which damaged forests on an area of about 50 hectares, and a wildfire in Novomoskovsky military forestry in Dnipropetrovsk region, which damaged forests on an area of about 450 hectares.
