You're reading: Three miners missing after rockslide at Rumiantsev Coalmine in Donetsk Oblast

The fate of three miners is unknown for the time being, after an August 7 rockslide at the Rumiantsev coalmine belonging to the state-owned enterprise Artemvuhillia in Horlivka, Donetsk region, read a statement made by the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of the Chornobyl Catastrophe.

The rockslide occurred at 3:48 am on Saturday at the level of 1,090 metres; it caught three miners.

In all 122 miners were working in the mine, of them eight in the accident area, five of whom got out up to the ground by themselves.

As of 7:00 am, the fate of the three remaining miners is not known.

Work on the accident area is suspended, the mine operating normally.

Five divisions of the Coal Industry Ministry’s state paramilitary mine rescue service are involved in the search and rescue of the miners.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on June 14 two miners were killed by an outburst of coal-gas mix at this mine.
