You're reading: Prosecutor general to personally oversee investigation into student’s death at police department

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has charged Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko with personally overseeing the investigation of a criminal case on the death of student Ihor Indylo at Shevchenkivsky district police department, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Anna Herman told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

"Today the president of Ukraine met the mother of the dead student, Liudmyla Indylo. Their conversation continued for more then one hour," she said. Herman also said that the president charged the prosecutor general of Ukraine with taking all necessary measures and completing the investigation as soon as possible.

According to the student’s mother, the president assured her that he would personally monitor the course of the investigation into her son’s death.
