You're reading: Town blacked out by stormy weather in Mykolaiv region

Heavy rain and squally winds have damaged the roofs of 30 private houses, eight two-storey residential houses, hospital buildings, a culture center and a school in the town of Nova Odesa (Mykolaiv region).

Falling trees damaged a gas pipeline in the boiler-room of the culture centre, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry of Ukraine reported.

Power supplies to the town were cut. Power was restored on Tuesday morning, the ministry said.

The municipal maintenance teams are cleaning up the damage from the storm.
