You're reading: Heatwave to start subsiding in Ukraine on Wednesday

The hot and dry air mass over most of Ukraine will withdraw over the next few days to only eastern and southeastern regions of the country, and Crimea, where it is likely to remain dry, according to the Ukrainian weather forecast centre.

Nighttime temperatures in these regions on Wednesday, August 18, will be 20-25 degrees Celsius, 27 on the seashore; with daytime temperatures being 30-35 degrees Celsius.

Warm and moist Atlantic air will bring clouds and brief thunderstorms to western, northern, and most central regions, as well as Odesa and Mykolaiv region. Heavy rain is expected in Khmelnitsky and Vinnitsa regions.

In Sumy, Poltava Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions daytime temperatures will be 29-33 degrees Celsius, and nighttime temperatures 15-20 degrees Celsius.

Showers, thunderstorms with occasional hail and squalls are expected in Kyiv city and region on August 18. The nighttime temperature in Kyiv will be 18-20 degrees Celsius, daytime temperatures – 26-28 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in the region will be 15-20 at night and 23-28 degrees Celsius during the day.

Showers and thunderstorms are also expected in Kyiv and the region on August 19. The daytime temperatures will be 25-27 in Kyiv city, 22-27 in the region, and nighttime temperatures will be 15-17 in Kyiv city, and 13-18 degrees Celsius in the region.
