Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed government officials and representatives of local authorities to create proper conditions at boarding schools for sick children, elderly and disabled people, and ordered them to examine and introduce in Ukraine the best international practices in this sphere.

The presidential press service reported on Tuesday that the Cabinet of Ministers should introduce amendments to the current legislation to improve medical services and living conditions at boarding schools and it should submit them to the Labor and Social Policy Ministry and the Health Ministry.

Checks will be conducted at all of the boarding schools for orphans, disabled children and children deprived of parental care on whether teachers and health workers meet their professional and moral qualities required for work with children.

In addition, Yanukovych ordered the government and local authorities to ensure that children from boarding schools with diseases of the central nervous system spend holidays at the sanatoriums of the State Affairs Department and at the International Rehabilitation Treatment Clinic in Truskavets.
