A fireworks display is not expected on Independence Day in Ukraine, despite the decrease in air temperatures and intermittent rain, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has told Interfax-Ukraine.
"There will definitely be no fireworks display on Independence Day. According to our information, a respective decision by the president is being prepared," a ministry representative said.
He noted that air temperatures would drop in the coming days, but the air would remain dry and therefore the fire risk would remain high. He said the use of fireworks could still lead to outbreaks of fire.
