Ukrainian First Vice Premier Andriy Kliuyev has instructed the Ukrainian Finance Ministry by August 20 to sent Hr. 800 million to pay wages to miners.
"We should celebrate Miners’ Day with honor and ensure the regular and full financing of the sector. The Finance Ministry is to send budget funds worth UAH 800 million to pay wages to miners by August 20. The Coal Ministry is to provide payment of wages to coal industry workers in full," he said, opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Kliuyev said that it is necessary to pay on time for energy consumed in Ukraine, including coal.
He warned the heads of some regions, in particular, Kyiv, Sevastopol, Donetsk region and Zhytomyr region, that they are personally responsible for the preparation of heat supply facilities for the coming heating season, adding that the debt for energy should be cut as much as possible.
Ukraine celebrates Miners’ Day on the last Sunday in August.
