President Viktor Yanukovych is planning to spend next few weeks in the regions to encourage public awareness of the reforms he is carrying out.

The president has said this in his message to the Ukrainian nation on the occasion of the Independence Day.

"I’ll have a direct dialogue with the public during the next few weeks to help people understand the purpose of our work and advantages of the reforms being implemented. I’ll go to all regions to explain, and of course, to listen to public opinions," he noted.

Information about reforms will be available for every Ukrainian, the president emphasized.

"We will make information about reforms widely available and will respond to people’s questions," the head of the state said.

The main threat to Ukraine is poverty that can be combated only through deep and systemic reforms. However, the president highlights that positive effects of the reforms will not be noticeable at once, they will come only after a certain time.

As Ukrainian News reported, Yanukovych established the Committee for Economic Reforms and headed it in February.

Local elections are due to take place on October 31, Sunday.
