Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych believes that his upcoming visit to Germany will open up new opportunities in the relations between the two countries.

"I believe that this visit will open new opportunities in the relations between Ukraine and Germany. Ukraine’s foreign policy is currently based primarily on the fulfillment of all the commitments made by Ukraine. The stability of power, which has recently been restored in Ukraine, will serve for the implementation of joint decisions we will take. Because the president, the government and the Verkhovna Rada are operating as a single mechanism," Yanukovych said in an interview with Deutsche Welle, ARD Television and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ahead of his official visit to Germany, which has been scheduled for August 30.

The Ukrainian leader also noted that he pays much attention to enhancing the economic aspect of foreign policy. "This means that while implementing the economic reforms I announced we will create new motivations, new opportunities for investors… I expect only positive results from the visit to Germany," Yanukovych said.
